Smart Enrollments Come to AOSP

Rugged scanners, industrial PDAs, point-of-sale terminals, digital signage. The Android devices that ship without Google services are often the ones you deploy in the highest volumes, and until now they were the hardest ones to get onboarded at scale.
No Google account, no Managed Google Play, and no Zero-touch means every AOSP device had to be set up individually, with an admin picking the right policy by hand for each one. Multiply that by a few hundred terminals across several sites, and enrollment stops being a task and starts being a project.
Smart Enrollments now work on AOSP devices — and they work exactly the same way they already do on the rest of your Android fleet. Same fields, same conditions, same rules, same deployment steps. Nothing new to learn, nothing extra to enable.
⚙️ Key Capabilities
-
Conditional policy assignment. Define rule sets so every device receives the right policy automatically.
-
Enrollment guardrails. Limit who and what can enroll: by user authentication through your SSO integration (email patterns or user groups), or by device information such as IMEI or serial number.
-
Auxiliary fields. Add dropdowns that the user fills in during enrollment. Their answers become device tags, and those tags decide which policy applies.
-
Target segment and tags. Enrolled devices are assigned to the segment you choose.
-
Display name pattern. Device names are built automatically by combining device properties, so your inventory stays readable from day one.
-
Identical configuration flow. Everything you have already built for your Android Enterprise fleet applies here.
📌 Use Cases
-
Warehouse and logistics. Roll out hundreds of rugged scanners with the right policy per site, without touching them one by one.
-
Retail. Enroll point-of-sale terminals across multiple stores, using auxiliary fields so each store's devices get their own configuration.
-
Digital signage. Provision display units consistently, with naming and segmentation applied automatically.
-
Field operations. Hand industrial PDAs to technicians and let SSO authentication decide which policy each device receives.
