Device Audiences: build exactly the device groups you need

Until now, Device Audiences combined every selector with OR: a device joined the audience if it matched any single rule. That worked for simple groups, but you couldn't ask for "devices with this tag and in this segment", and there was no clean way to leave specific devices out.

Device Audiences now come with a new filter tree editor. You can combine conditions with AND and OR, add exclusions, and see the result live, all from one screen.

⚙️ Key capabilities

  • ALL and ANY groups: choose whether every condition must match (ALL) or just one (ANY).
  • Nested groups: put groups inside groups to mix AND and OR logic in a single audience.
  • Exclusions built in: operators such as is none of keep devices out, for example, VIP devices during a rollout.
  • Seven filter types: Device tag, Employee tag, Device, Device employee, Serial number, Smart attribute, and Segment, which is new.
  • Live Matched devices preview: see which devices match while you edit, plus a Selected by column that shows which filter brought each one in.
  • Zero migration work: your existing audiences are converted automatically, and your Automation Rules keep using them exactly as before.

📌 Use cases

  • Phased rollouts: target every device tagged shipping except those tagged vip.
  • Segment-specific targeting: group the Apple devices that sit directly in one segment, without picking up devices from its child segments.
  • Mixed criteria: in one audience, include a specific employee's devices, all Android-tagged devices, and a curated list of Macs.
